World Book Day

Last week, the children enjoyed celebrating World Book Week, culminating in World Book Day on Thursday. On Monday, the children started a whole-school writing project inspired by the book Inside the Suitcase. On Tuesday, the children enjoyed a theatre showing of the Railway Children in school. It was lovely to welcome the theatre company back into school after such a long time. Thursday saw the children come into school in their pyjamas clutching their favourite books. In the afternoon, our older children read stories to our younger children. Everyone had such a lovely week!

Dol-y-Moch

Mr Young reports that our Year 6 children have had a fantastic time so far at Dol-y-Moch. Here are just a few photos of some of the children to give you a taste of what they’ve been up to. More photos will follow.

Chinese New Year

To celebrate Chinese New Year, all children have been writing about tigers and creating a piece of matching artwork. Two finalists were selected from each class to have their learning displayed at Cannon Park Shopping Centre.

Today, the children walked up to the shops to see their writing and art on display. There were many proud faces as the children pointed out their learning. These 14 finalists will enjoy an afternoon of art with a local artist later in the term.

Year 2 Blast Off!

Year 2 watched the film, ‘The Way Back Home’, for the start of their adventure story writing unit in English. The boy in the story travels to another planet in his rocket. The children thought about what their own spaceship might look like if they travelled into space. Everyone showed the value of enjoyment making junk model spaceships.

Donation

Many thanks to Richard and his family for their fantastic charity work, which has led to the school receiving a donation of £1000 from Staples. What amazing news!

Snow Update

The first snow of the year is always exciting! We hope everyone has enjoyed going outside and experiencing the snow today.

School will be open as usual on Monday – we look forward to seeing you all at the usual time.

Children in Need 2021

The children have had such a fun day raising money for Children in Need. Every class has done something a little different, which has made it extra special, and every class has enjoyed the outdoors activity, kindly set up by Mrs Reihill and Mr Cotton.

Thank you, parents, for supporting such a fantastic cause, and for helping the children enjoy the day.
