Staff Message
The staff have been busy putting together a video message to hopefully put a smile on your face! Click on the school logo below to watch the clip.
The Book of Hopes
Completely free for all children and families, the extraordinary collection of short stories, poems, essays and pictures has contributions from more than 110 children’s writers and illustrators, including Lauren Child, Anthony Horowitz, Greg James and Chris Smith, Michael Morpurgo, Liz Pichon, Axel Scheffler, Francesca Simon and Jacqueline Wilson.
The collection, published by Bloomsbury, is dedicated to the doctors, nurses, carers, porters, cleaners and everyone currently working in hospitals.
For today’s activity, enjoy reading the Book of Hopes.

Wellbeing
During this time, looking after your mental wellbeing is very important. For today’s activity, I thought we could think about the things we do to look after our own wellbeing. Here is an example of an A to Z of wellbeing created by Simon Bolger. Your challenge today is to create your own wellbeing poster. You may wish to do an A to Z or just create your top five tips to stay healthy.
You may also wish to look at the NHS website for their 5 steps to mental wellbeing.
Active May
Today is 1st May and for today’s challenge, Mrs Amphlett has set a challenge for the month! She would like everyone to be as active as possible so try to follow each daily challenge throughout the month of May.
Design and Technology Challenge
Today, Miss Swain has created a Design and Technology challenge, which is open for all children. Every teacher will add this challenge to their Google Classroom today so brothers and sisters can show their teamwork skills and work together! Please send any photos to [email protected]
Scavenger Hunt
Thank you for sending your photos in to [email protected] for the website. Here is one of two of our children smiling proudly after a scavenger hunt. Our value of Enjoyment is clear to see!

Bug Hunt
Today’s activity comes from Mr Wilson: the Great Bug Hunt 2020! The challenge – venture into any outside space and explore and report back what you found, through a project. Run every year by the ASE in partnership with the Royal Entomological Society, the ever popular Great Bug Hunt competition takes science learning out of the primary classroom and brings it to life in the outdoors.
If you find a spider or woodlouse, find out all about it. Draw it, examine it (carefully!), what does it eat, where does it live – maybe even write a story or poem about it, design a poster, shoot a video and then email it over to [email protected] by 12th June.
Win a bundle of bug exploration-related prizes, a digital microscope and a hands-on “Insect Day” for the school.
