Tricks of light

Year 3 were Scientists this afternoon, looking at how light reflects and travels. They made their own periscopes using cereal boxes and mirrors and were absolutely amazed at how they could use them to see around corners and over and under things. The children even went into Year 6, where they saw Mrs MacDonald, and were keen to explain how their periscopes work. What great enthusiasm and enjoyment for Science Year 3!

Recipe for a Good Friend

Year 2 had a great afternoon discussing friendships.  Using their knowledge of instructions, they came up with a recipe for making a good friend. A handful of kindness, a spoonful of sharing and a sprinkle of helpfulness were some of the ingredients mentioned. Well done Year 2, we think you perfected the recipe.

Anderson Shelters

As part of our WWII topic, Year 6 have been learning about how Anderson Shelters were used to protect families from air raids. This afternoon, the children started the process of constructing individual shelters in a fun Design & Technology lesson. There was a lot of sawing, gluing and precision involved. Amazing effort from all the children, we cannot wait to see the final structures.

Colour Theory

Year 6 were Artists this afternoon, discovering the theory of colours in particular looking at warm and cold colours. They created their own portraits and used oil pastels to highlight the difference between the colours. Well done Year 6 for showing great enthusiasm for art and producing some fantastic pieces of work!
