Geography Enthusiasts

As Geographers, Year 6 had a great afternoon learning about the different areas of the UK that became evacuation locations for children of WW2. They were tasked with picking suitcase tags, similar to what children were given in the war, and they had to find the particular counties using an atlas. Well done Year 6 for showing great enthusiasm and enjoyment with our new topic.

Magic Magnets

Year 3 had an exciting afternoon using magnets. They discovered how they could make a paper clip hover in the air using a piece of string and a magnet. We had some very excited children amazed by science!

Rugby

On Wednesday, Year 5 and 6 were visited by Coventry Rugby Club. The players will be returning in the new year to do reading sessions, sport sessions and will run a club for Year 5 and 6. The after school club will start on Tuesday 14th January for 6 weeks and costs £12. All details can be found on SIMS Pay.

For more details, please speak to Mrs Amphlett.

Christmas Parties

Yesterday, the children enjoyed their class Christmas parties. They played games in the hall, decorated their tables and enjoyed their party food. Father Christmas even found time to pop in and give each child a book for Christmas.

Young Carers

Young carers are people aged between 5 and 18 years old who have a responsibility for looking after or helping someone else to look after a person who has a disability, a long term illness, mental health illness, Autism/ADHD or someone addicted to drugs or alcohol. That person could be your mum, dad, brother, sister, grandparent or even a close friend or neighbour.

Thursday 30th January is National Young Carers’ Day. We will be holding an assembly in school to raise awareness.

Christmas Dinner

Everyone enjoyed a fantastic Christmas Dinner by our amazing Aspens staff. The food was delicious; it was enjoyed by both children and staff alike. The parsnips and roast potatoes stood out amongst a very competitive field as being particularly tasty! The presentation of the food area was excellent. As always, our Aspens staff go the extra mile to make the event extra special. Thank you!

Year 1 to the rescue!

This morning, the children came into the classroom to find they’d had a visit from ‘The Evil Pea’. He had caught all of Supertato’s vegetable friends and tied them up! Supertato was away on holiday so Year 1 were keen to help. They created their own Supertato characters, gave theme superpowers and helped to free the vegetables. They wrote some amazing sentences about their characters!

Athletics

This morning Year 6 took part in the Sports Hall Athletics Competition at the Xcel Centre. They were competing with three other local schools and faced some really tough competition. Our children came 2nd place overall which is a great achievement! Well done Year 6 for showing great teamwork, enjoyment and discipline and we couldn’t have been prouder of how you represented our school.
